James Harden sat on the Philadelphia 76ers’ bench during the team’s 126-98 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on October 29. Joel Embiid, who had a terrific game, said it wasn’t awkward having Harden on the bench.
“It was not. I was just honestly, when I’m playing, I’m always focused on the game,” Embiid said. “Not focused on anything going on around. I mean, always willing to listen to suggestions from other teammates based on what they see. But to me, it’s always about the game. So, you know, the whole time, I was pretty focused and just trying to take care of business.”
Harden still wants the Sixers to trade him to the Los Angeles Clippers. The 10-time All-Star hasn’t played this season and it’s unknown if he’ll suit up for Philadelphia ever again.
