One NBA writer is proposing that the Detroit Pistons acquire Duncan Robinson and Nikola Jovic from the Miami Heat in a bold deal. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Pistons and Heat:
The Detroit Pistons trade Bojan Bogdanovic to the Miami Heat for Duncan Robinson, Nikola Jovic and a 2027 first-round pick
“The future first is the crown jewel, but Jovic is no consolation prize,” Buckley wrote in his NBA trade column. “He’s a 6’10” face-up forward who can create off the dribble (for himself and his teammates) and might one day become a three-level scoring threat. Robinson would help make the money work, and while he’s objectively overpaid, he has had some elite shooting seasons in the recent past.”

Buckley believes the Pistons should continue prioritizing the future over the present. Bogdanovic is better suited to play for a contender since he’s 34 years old and coming off a season where he averaged 21.6 points.
In this trade proposal, the Pistons would get two players from the Heat and a future first-round pick. Robinson is averaging 10.7 points this season for Miami while shooting 38.1% from beyond the arc. He’s one of the best shooters in the NBA. Meanwhile, Jovic put up eight points, 11 rebounds and four assists in the one game he appeared in.

The Pistons are building around Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren. It will be fascinating to see if they trade Bogdanovic before the 2024 February trade deadline. This trade idea Buckley came up with would be a solid return for Detroit.
