Sacramento Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox suffered a right ankle sprain against the Los Angeles Lakers on October 29 and the All-Star is expected to miss some time, according to NBA insiders Shams Charania and Sam Amick of The Athletic.

The Kings beat the Lakers in overtime by a final score of 132-127. Fox put up 37 points and eight assists in 34 minutes while shooting 14-of-24 from the field, 3-of-8 from beyond the arc and 6-of-8 from the free-throw line.

The 25-year-old Fox is averaging 31.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 6.0 assists this season. The lefty is shooting 48.6% from the floor, 37.5% from 3 and 81.0% from the foul line.

The Kings are 2-1. They beat the Utah Jazz in Game 1, lost to the Golden State Warriors in Game 3 and defeated the Lakers in Game 3.

Sacramento will need every player in the rotation to step up while Fox is out. Fox has established himself as one of the top players in the NBA. He averaged 25.0 points and 6.1 assists last season and made his first All-Star team and first All-NBA team. The Kings made the playoffs in 2023 for the first time since 2006.

Before this season started, Keegan Murray revealed what Fox is like as a leader during an interview with Mark Medina of Sportskeeda.

“I’ve only been here for a year or so. But compared to last year, I feel like he’s become a lot more outspoken and being more involved with telling us what is on his mind,” Murray said about Fox. “I talk to him in huddles and talk to him on the court. It’s been cool to see his progression.”
