One NBA writer predicts that the Dallas Mavericks will trade shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. this season. Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report believes the Mavericks will move on from Hardaway Jr. and make a “win-now” trade for stars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
“Unless the fit between Irving and Doncic falls apart, Hardaway Jr.’s contract feels like the Mavericks’ safest bet for a trade,” Bailey wrote. “Given the pressure that could come as a result of having Kyrie and Luka on the roster, the front office will almost certainly chase win-now trades if the Mavs don’t get off to a hot start.”
The Mavericks tried to trade Hardaway Jr. in the offseason. However, the front office didn’t find the right deal. Hardaway Jr. is making $17.9 million this season. The veteran will make $16.2 million next season, the final year of his contract.
