One NBA writer is proposing that the Washington Wizards trade for Utah Jazz swingman Talen Horton-Tucker in a bold deal. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Wizards and Jazz:

The Utah Jazz trade Talen Horton-Tucker and a 2025 first-round pick (lottery protected) to the Washington Wizards for Tyus Jones

The Jazz acquired Horton-Tucker from the Los Angeles Lakers in August 2022. THT appeared in 65 games last season for Utah. He averaged 10.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists while shooting 41.9% from the field, 28.6% from beyond the arc and 75.0% from the free-throw line.

Horton-Tucker, 22, has career NBA averages of 9.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists with the Lakers and Jazz. He won the 2020 championship with Los Angeles in the Walt Disney World bubble versus the Miami Heat in six games.

The Wizards are in rebuild mode after trading Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns and Kristaps Porzingis to the Boston Celtics. Buckley believes Jones is better suited to play for the Jazz, who would likely have to part ways with Horton-Tucker to acquire Jones.

“Horton-Tucker is still a mystery box, despite the fact that he’s about to play his fifth NBA season,” Buckley wrote.

The Wizards started Jones, Jordan Poole, Deni Avdija, Kyle Kuzma and Daniel Gafford on opening night versus the Indiana Pacers. Washington got blown out by a final score of 143-120.

Utah lost 130-114, with Horton-Tucker finishing with eight points and four assists while shooting 3-of-9 overall and 2-of-4 from 3-point range in 21 minutes.
