Phoenix Suns stars Devin Booker and Bradley Beal won’t play against the Los Angeles Lakers on October 26, according to NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

Booker is dealing with a foot injury, while Beal has a back ailment.

Beal missed the Suns’ first game of the season versus the Golden State Warriors. Phoenix beat Golden State without Beal, as Booker scored 32 points in 37 minutes.

Since it’s only the second game of the season, it appears the Suns want to be cautious with Booker and Beal.

The Lakers lost their season-opener against the Denver Nuggets on the road. Los Angeles will be without Jarred Vanderbilt, who is one of the better defenders in the NBA. It will be fascinating to see who wins between the Lakers and Suns.

Beal, who waived his no-trade clause with the Washington Wizards to get traded to the Suns, averaged 23.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists last season in 50 games. A three-time All-Star, Beal has career averages of 22.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists. The Florida product waived his no-trade clause to land with the Suns after the Miami Heat told him they couldn’t acquire him.

“I’m like, ‘OK, what’s Miami doing? Dragging feet.’ And eventually it came to a point to where Miami said they just can’t do it,” Beal wrote in a diary for Andscape. “But it was an eye-opener for sure. And that’s why I said I went into everything kind of open-minded and with an open slate. And out of nowhere here comes a dark horse in Phoenix and their aggressiveness pushed me over the top.”

Booker averaged 27.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists for the Suns last season. He has established himself as one of the best players in the NBA.
