Victor Wembanyama believes playing for the San Antonio Spurs is the “best environment” for him since Spurs fans are very loyal. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft knows San Antonio fans will always have his back no matter what happens on the court.
Wembanyama will make his NBA debut tonight (October 25) versus the Dallas Mavericks. It’s the start of a new era for the Spurs, who are hopeful Wembanyama can follow in the footsteps of David Robinson and Tim Duncan as No. 1 overall picks who had legendary careers in San Antonio.

Robinson won two championships, one regular-season MVP and one Defensive Player of the Year Award with the Spurs. The Hall of Famer made 10 All-Star teams, 10 All-NBA teams and eight All-Defensive teams.
Meanwhile, Duncan won five titles, two regular-season MVPs and three Finals MVPs during his incredible career with the Spurs. The Big Fundamental made 15 All-Star teams, 15 All-NBA teams and 15 All-Defensive teams.
Wembanyama averaged 19.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.8 blocks in the preseason while shooting 50.9% from the field, 31.8% from beyond the arc and 85.7% from the free-throw line. He is the betting favorite to win the 2024 Rookie of the Year Award.
