Immanuel Quickley Breaks Silence On Not Reaching Extension With Knicks

Immanuel Quickley will become a restricted NBA free agent next offseason since the New York Knicks didn’t sign him to a rookie-scale extension.

Quickley spoke to reporters on October 24 about not signing an extension with the Knicks.

Quickley appeared in 81 games for the Knicks last season. The combo guard averaged 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting 44.8% from the floor, 37.0% from beyond the arc and 81.9% from the free-throw line.

The Knicks won 47 games in the 2022-23 regular season and were the fifth seed in the 2023 Eastern Conference playoffs. New York beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round in five games but lost to the Miami Heat in the second round in six games.

Quickley, who is the Knicks’ Sixth Man, averaged 9.0 points against the Cavaliers and Heat while shooting 34.8% overall and 24.3% from 3.

In 223 games with the Knicks, Quickley is averaging 12.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists. New York is 119-104 when Quickley plays. ESPN cap guru Bobby Marks estimated Quickley’s value at four years, $85 million. That number could increase or decrease depending on how Quickley plays this season.

The Knicks, who are coached by Tom Thibodeau, are expected to start Jalen Brunson, Quentin Grimes, RJ Barrett, Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson this season. Quickley, who started 21 games last season, is considered the fourth-best scorer in New York behind Randle, Brunson and Barrett.

A source told NBA Analysis Network that Quickley is excited for the upcoming season so he can prove his worth to the Knicks.
