The Detroit Pistons announced that small forward Bojan Bogdanovic will miss four weeks with a right calf strain. The Pistons open the 2023-24 NBA season on October 25 against the Miami Heat.

Bogdanovic will be re-evaluated by doctors in four weeks, so he could miss more than four weeks.

Bogdanovic averaged 21.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists for the Pistons last season while shooting 48.8% from the field, 41.1% from beyond the arc and 88.4% from the free-throw line. The swingman made 145 3-pointers in 59 games.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Bojan Bogdanovic, Detroit Pistons Updates

Bogdanovic has career averages of 15.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting 39.4% from 3-point land with the Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards, Indiana Pacers, Utah Jazz and Pistons.

In October 2022, Bogdanovic signed a two-year, $39 million extension with the Pistons. The sharpshooter will make $20 million this season. Detroit acquired Bogdanovic from Utah last offseason.

Bogdanovic was expected to start for the Pistons alongside Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, Isaiah Stewart and Jalen Duren. It will be interesting to see who Detroit head coach Monty Williams starts in place of Bogdanovic.

It’s worth mentioning that many people around the NBA don’t expect Bogdanovic to spend the entire season on the Pistons since he’s better suited to play for a contender.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Bojan Bogdanovic, Detroit Pistons Updates

The Pistons won only 17 games last season. They are still in rebuild mode after parting ways with All-Stars Andre Drummond and Blake Griffin.

Detroit should win more than 17 games this season since Cunningham is healthy again. The talented guard appeared in just 12 games in 2022-23.
