NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has signed a three-year, $186 million extension with the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Bucks acquired Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers in the offseason, so all signs point toward Antetokounmpo spending his entire NBA career with the Bucks. Milwaukee now has a Big 4 of Antetokounmpo, Lillard, Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez.

Antetokounmpo, 28, was lifting weights when he found out the Bucks traded Jrue Holiday to the Blazers for Lillard.

“I was lifting weights (at the practice facility) with the strength and conditioning coach (Suki Hobson), and Suki said, ‘Oh!’ (as she looked at the news on her phone). And I said, ‘What’s going on?’ And then she showed me,” Antetokounmpo told Sam Amick of The Athletic.

Last season, Antetokounmpo averaged 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.8 blocks in 63 games while shooting 55.3% from the field, 27.5% from beyond the arc and 64.5% from the free-throw line. The two-time MVP recorded 46 double-doubles and six triple-doubles for the Bucks.

One of the greatest players in NBA history, Antetokounmpo has career averages of 22.6 points, 9.6 rebounds and 4.7 assists with the Bucks. He has won the Most Improved Player of the Year Award, two regular-season MVPs, one Finals MVP and one Defensive Player of the Year Award with the Bucks.

Milwaukee won the 2021 title over the Phoenix Suns in six games. The Bucks signed Antetokounmpo to a five-year, $228.2 million designated maximum contract extension in December 2020. The future Hall of Famer will make $45.6 million this season.
