Veteran guard Eric Gordon told NBA reporter Mark Medina of Sportskeeda that he thought about joining the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets and Milwaukee Bucks this offseason before signing with the Phoenix Suns.
Gordon, who played for the Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers last season, signed a two-year, $6.5 million contract with the Suns in July.
“Houston and the Warriors were definitely an option,” Gordon said. “Milwaukee was definitely an option. But I felt Phoenix was onto something special. It was a tough decision, but I really think we have everything going on here from ownership, to coaches and to players. It’s hard to beat.”
Gordon, who won the 2016-17 Sixth Man of the Year Award with the Rockets, averaged 12.4 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists last season while shooting 44.6% from the field, 37.1% from beyond the arc and 82.1% from the free-throw line.

With Gordon, Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal and Devin Booker leading the way, the Suns have a really good shot at winning the championship this season.
“I really feel like we’re onto something special in Phoenix,” Gordon said. “I don’t look at this as a short-term thing. I really think we have a really good shot this season [at winning the NBA title] and for years to come. With me being here, I felt like we would be pretty good because I think I would fit in and gel with these guys really well.”
The 34-year-old Gordon has career averages of 16.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists. He is looking to win his first title with the Suns, who have never won a championship in franchise history.

“The talent is going to be there. We have to stay as healthy as we can,” Gordon said. “That’s No. 1. And no. 2? Once we get the chemistry down, it’s going to be really hard to stop us. In the playoffs, it’s going to be really hard to beat us four times.”
