One NBA writer is proposing that the New York Knicks acquire Myles Turner from the Indiana Pacers in a blockbuster deal. Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Knicks and Pacers:
New York Knicks Receive: C Myles Turner
Indiana Pacers Receive: C Mitchell Robinson, 2024 first-round pick (top-10-protected via Dallas Mavericks)
The Knicks are close to putting together a strong team after finishing fifth in the Eastern Conference and reaching the Semifinals before being eliminated by the Miami Heat. They are close to becoming a major threat if they make the right moves to add talent around Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle, and RJ Barrett. However, proper timing and calculation are required to make the right move.
The Knicks would send Robinson out to make a change at the center spot in this trade proposal by acquiring Turner. The goal would be for Turner’s shooting ability to help space the floor without giving up rim protection.

While losing the rebounding impact that Robinson provides would be a downside of this trade proposal, the Knicks shot just 29.2 percent from 3-point range in the playoffs — making them the least efficient among all teams to participate. They need to open up the floor more to maximize their offense and make it simpler for Brunson to shoulder the load to get to the paint in big moments.
Turner is an outstanding rebounder and defender. He’s led the NBA in blocks per game twice and can stretch the floor with his improved shooting. Turner scored 18.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game in 2022-23 for the Pacers while shooting 54.8% from the field, 37.3% from beyond the arc and 78.3% from the free-throw line.
Turner will make $20.9 million this season. He signed a two-year, $58 million extension with the Pacers in January 2023. The 27-year-old has career NBA averages of 13.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 2.3 blocks.

The Knicks could start Jalen Brunson, Quentin Grimes, RJ Barrett, Julius Randle and Turner if New York’s front office figured out a way to acquire Turner from Indiana.
