The Los Angeles Lakers are looking to return to the NBA Finals since winning it all in 2020. They have all the pieces necessary to compete in the Western Conference.

Although heading into his 21st season, the Lakers see ‘unbelievable’ energy from LeBron James before the start of the season. James is widely considered one of the best players in NBA history. It has been undoubtedly a debate between him and Michael Jordan. However, one thing is certain: the NBA has not seen consistent play from a player in his 21st season as James.

Lakers VP of Basketball Operations Rob Pelinka spoke about how ‘amazing’ it is to watch him attack the offseason with the energy and passion of a rookie. Furthermore, Pelinka talked about James’ commitment to getting to the gym early to work with his teammates.

“It was amazing to watch him attack the offseason; it was almost like it was his rookie year again in the league,” Pelinka said. “He was in our building at six or seven in the morning, working out with Rui [Hachimura] a lot and some of the other young guys.

“So I just think his energy in year 21 is unbelievable, we haven’t seen anything like it, but it defines his leadership, just the way he works and approaches the game.”

James has not slowed down despite being 38 years old. He remains one of two critical pieces that keep the franchise competing. The other is Anthony Davis. King James averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists last season. He continues to impress fans and players alike with his effective play.

The Lakers will look to him to lead the team again to the playoffs as he has done in the organization in the last three out of four years. The key, though, is to remain healthy, as that has been the question for the team each year, particularly with Davis, who is an integral part of their success.
