Dallas Mavericks point guard Kyrie Irving destroyed ESPN after the sports website ranked him as the 34th-best player in the NBA.

Irving played for the Brooklyn Nets and Mavericks last season. He averaged 27.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 60 games while shooting 49.4% from the field, 37.9% from beyond the arc and 90.5% from the free-throw line.

An eight-time All-Star, Irving has career NBA averages of 23.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.7 assists with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, Nets and Mavericks. He has made three All-NBA teams and helped the Cavaliers win the 2016 championship over the Golden State Warriors in seven games.

Irving spoke with reporters on September 28 and the Duke product talked about why he re-signed with the Mavericks in free agency this offseason. Irving re-signed with Dallas on a three-year, $126 million contract on the first day of free agency.

“It wasn’t too difficult of a process,” Irving said. “Had Dallas as No. 1 on my list. Obviously, I looked elsewhere — salary cap opportunities, where I could fit in with other guys around the league — but there just wasn’t much space. And me being 31 now, I had to have a different vantage point, and I felt like I could not just settle here but be happy to come back here and be welcomed back with a warm embrace.”
