One NBA writer is proposing that the Atlanta Hawks acquire DeMar DeRozan and Alex Caruso from the Chicago Bulls in a blockbuster deal. Fran Leiva of Fadeaway World proposed the following trade idea between the Bulls, Los Angeles Clippers and Hawks:
Atlanta Hawks receive: DeMar DeRozan, Alex Caruso, Bones Hyland, 2028 First-Round Pick via Clippers, 2030 First-Round Pick via Clippers
Chicago Bulls receive: Paul George, 2029 First-Round Pick via Hawks, 2028 Second-Round Pick via Hawks
Los Angeles Clippers receive: Trae Young, 2029 First-Round Pick via Bulls
In 74 games last season for the Bulls, DeRozan averaged 24.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 5.1 assists while shooting 50.4% from the field and 87.2% from the free-throw line. The Compton native was 13th in the NBA in total points and 17th in points per game, once again proving that he doesn’t need to shoot or make 3-pointers to score.

Meanwhile, Caruso appeared in 67 games for the Bulls last season. He averaged 5.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists while shooting 45.5% from the floor, 36.4% from 3 and 80.8% from the foul line. Caruso made the NBA All-Defensive First Team.
The Hawks, who lost to the Boston Celtics in the first round of the 2023 playoffs in six games, could start Dejounte Murray, Caruso, DeRozan, Saddiq Bey and Clint Capela if Atlanta’s front office figured out a way to acquire DeRozan and Caruso from Chicago.
“Alex Caruso would be a terrific addition to an already strong defensive backcourt, with a continually improving Dejounte Murray in the scoring department,” Leiva wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “DeMar DeRozan would become the team’s primary scorer, bringing his veteran leadership to the forefront. In the frontcourt, the duo would consist of Saddiq Bey, the phenomenal shooter acquired from Detroit, and Clint Capela, another defensive presence.”
