One NBA writer is proposing that the Atlanta Hawks acquire Pascal Siakam from the Toronto Raptors and Jake LaRavia from the Memphis Grizzlies in a blockbuster deal. Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Hawks, Raptors and Grizzlies:
Toronto Raptors Receive: De’Andre Hunter, Luke Kennard, Brandon Clarke, a 2027 first-round pick from Memphis, a 2029 first-round pick from Memphis and a 2029 first-round pick from Atlanta
Atlanta Hawks Receive: Pascal Siakam and Jake LaRavia
Memphis Grizzlies Receive: Bogdan Bogdanović and O.G. Anunoby
“The Hawks have long been rumored to be interested in Siakam, and this trade lands him there as part of a star trio that includes Trae Young and Dejounte Murray,” Bailey wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “Giving up two rotation wings and a first-round pick may seem like a hefty price tag for Siakam, but Atlanta may be in a unique position to do so. Saddiq Bey, Jalen Johnson and AJ Griffin are all waiting in the (ahem) wings.
“A consolidation trade makes sense when Atlanta is getting a player who has averaged more than 20 points per game in each of his last four seasons.”
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Pascal Siakam, Jake LaRavia, Atlanta Hawks, Toronto Raptors, Memphis Grizzlies Updates
Several NBA teams have shown interest in pursuing Siakam via trade over the past three months, but the external market has been tempered a bit due to the fact that it’s been made clear Siakam would not extend with a team that trades for him. Siakam can sign for 30 percent of the salary cap either now via extension or next offseason as a free agent with the Raptors or any other franchise.
The Raptors are eligible to sign Siakam to a maximum contract extension of four years and at least $192 million. Thus far, there have been no substantive conversations surrounding an extension. And for Siakam’s part, the NBA star has never requested to be traded.
Siakam averaged 24.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists last season for the Raptors while shooting 48.0% from the field, 32.4% from beyond the arc and 77.4% from the free-throw line. He’s one of the top forwards in the NBA.
The Hawks and Indiana Pacers have been the two NBA teams most prominently connected to Siakam in trade talks. Siakam has career NBA averages of 17.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists. He won the 2019 NBA championship and the 2018-19 Most Improved Player of the Year Award.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Pascal Siakam, Jake LaRavia, Atlanta Hawks, Toronto Raptors, Memphis Grizzlies Updates
The Hawks, who lost to the Boston Celtics in the first round of the 2023 playoffs in six games, would have a Big 3 of Young, Murray and Siakam if Atlanta’s front office figured out a way to acquire Siakam from Toronto.
