One NBA writer is proposing that the Indiana Pacers acquire Tobias Harris from the Philadelphia 76ers in a blockbuster deal. Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Pacers, Sixers and Los Angeles Clippers:
Philadelphia 76ers Receive Buddy Hield, Daniel Theis, Terance Mann, Norman Powell and Marcus Morris Sr. and a 2030 first-round pick from Los Angeles
Los Angeles Clippers Receive: James Harden and Jordan Nwora
Indiana Pacers Receive: Tobias Harris, a 2024 second-round pick (via Toronto) and a 2029 first-round pick from Philadelphia
“After extension talks stalled, the Pacers started looking into potential trades for Buddy Hield a few weeks ago, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium. This deal sends him to a contender without forfeiting Indiana’s ability to be competitive right now,” Bailey wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “Hield is the only mainstay from last season’s rotation on the outgoing side, as Jordan Nwora and Daniel Theis only played a combined 700 minutes for the Pacers in 2022-23. Tobias Harris can provide some of the shooting they’d lose from moving Hield while also being a bigger defender.

“Shifting depth to the frontcourt and picking up a few draft assets in the process is a win, especially if Hield could be on his way out of Indiana after this season anyway.”
Harris has been the subject of trade rumors and backlash ever since he signed a five-year, $180 million contract with the Sixers in July 2019. He’ll make $39.3 million this season, the final year of his deal.
Harris averaged 14.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists last season while shooting 50.1% from the field, 38.9% from beyond the arc and 87.6% from the free-throw line.

The Pacers were interested in trading for Harris in the offseason, sources told NBA Analysis Network. It will be interesting to see if Indiana acquires Harris before the 2024 trade deadline.
