One NBA writer is proposing that the Indiana Pacers acquire Evan Fournier from the New York Knicks in a bold deal. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Knicks and Pacers:

New York Knicks receive: Buddy Hield

Indiana Pacers receive: Evan Fournier and a 2024 first-round pick (top-10 protected, via DAL)

“Fournier would strictly serve salary-matching purposes at the time of the trade, but he’d have a non-zero chance of finding his way into the rotation,” Buckley wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “He lost his rotation spot with the Knicks last season, but in 2021-22, he delivered a career-best (and Hield-esque) 3.0 threes per game on 38.9 percent shooting.”

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Evan Fournier, New York Knicks, Indiana Pacers Updates

Fournier will make $18.9 million this season. He signed a four-year, $73 million contract with New York in August 2021 as part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Boston Celtics.

Fournier only appeared in 27 games last season. He was removed from the rotation by head coach Tom Thibodeau. After the Knicks lost to the Miami Heat in the 2023 Eastern Conference Semifinals in six games, Fournier told NBA reporters he expected to get traded in the summer. However, New York didn’t trade the veteran.

Fournier averaged 6.1 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 2022-23 while shooting 33.7% from the field, 30.7% from beyond the arc and 85.7% from the free-throw line. The swingman has career NBA averages of 14.0 points, 2.7 boards and 2.5 assists with the Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic, Celtics and Knicks. He made a career-high 241 3-pointers in 2021-22.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Evan Fournier, New York Knicks, Indiana Pacers Updates

The Pacers went 35-47 last season. The Knicks and Pacers made a trade in the offseason, as New York sent Obi Toppin to Indiana. It will be interesting to see if the two teams make another trade with each other.
