One NBA writer is proposing that the Atlanta Hawks acquire Paul George, Terance Mann and Ivica Zubac from the Los Angeles Clippers in a huge blockbuster deal. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Hawks and Clippers:

Los Angeles Clippers receive: Trae Young, Clint Capela and Saddiq Bey

Atlanta Hawks receive: Paul George, Terance Mann, Ivica Zubac and a 2029 first-round pick

“A fully healthy George arguably impacts winning more than Young, since he contributes at both ends, but his trade value would be hurt by his age, injury trouble and contract uncertainty,” Buckley wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “So, Atlanta would also fetch Mann, a strong-on-paper backcourt fit for Dejounte Murray, and an unprotected future first. Trading Capela would open up a starting spot for Onyeka Okongwu, leaving Zubac as a high-end reserve and insurance option if Okongwu isn’t as ready as he appears.”

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Paul George, Terance Mann, Ivica Zubac, Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks Updates

George, one of the best players in the NBA, averaged 23.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists last season in 56 games. He suffered a knee injury near the end of the regular season and didn’t play in the 2023 postseason.

Meanwhile, Mann averaged 8.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists and Zubac averaged 10.8 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.0 assists.

The Hawks, who lost to the Boston Celtics in the first round of the 2023 playoffs in six games, could start Dejounte Murray, Mann, De’Andre Hunter, George and Zubac if Atlanta’s front office figured out a way to acquire George, Zubac and Mann from Los Angeles.

An NBA executive who spoke with NBA Analysis Network doesn’t think Young will finish out his contract with the Hawks. Young signed a five-year, $215.2 million extension with Atlanta in August 2021. It will be interesting to see if Atlanta tries to trade Young to Los Angeles for George.
