Boston Celtics point guard Payton Pritchard has agreed on a four-year, $30 million contract extension, his agents Austin Brown, Max Saidman and Mitch Nathan of CAA Sports told NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN on Sunday.
Pritchard appeared in 48 games for the Celtics last season. He averaged 5.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists while shooting 41.2% from the field, 36.4% from beyond the arc and 75.0% from the free-throw line.
The 25-year-old Pritchard played in 10 games in the 2023 playoffs, averaging 3.2 points. The Celtics lost to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals in seven games after reaching the NBA Finals in 2022.

Boston drafted Pritchard with the 26th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft out of Oregon. The guard has career averages of 6.6 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists. Pritchard signed a four-year, $10.5 million rookie-scale contract with Boston. He will make $4.0 million this season.
Pritchard has shot 42.6% on catch-and-shoot 3-pointers since entering the NBA in 2020, per Second Spectrum. That ranks him in the league’s Top 15 among players with 300-plus attempts in that span. In the final game of the 2022-2023 regular season, Pritchard made and assisted on 17 3-pointers — tied for most by any player ever in an NBA game, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

The Celtics are expected to start Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Kristaps Porzingis this season. Boston acquired Holiday from the Portland Trail Blazers and Porzingis from the Washington Wizards. The Celtics traded Marcus Smart to the Memphis Grizzlies and Grant Williams to the Dallas Mavericks.
