One NBA writer is proposing that the Philadelphia 76ers acquire Tyler Herro from the Miami Heat and Malcolm Brogdon from the Portland Trail Blazers in a blockbuster deal. Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Sixers, Heat and Blazers:

Philadelphia 76ers Receive: Tyler Herro and Malcolm Brogdon

Miami Heat Receive: James Harden, P.J. Tucker and a 2024 second-round pick from Portland (via Charlotte or Minnesota)

Portland Trail Blazers Receive: Kyle Lowry, Nikola Jović and a 2026 first-round pick swap from Philadelphia

“Neither Tyler Herro nor Malcolm Brogdon was as good as James Harden last season,” Bailey wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “There’s a pretty good chance neither will be this season. But Herro is just over 10 years younger than Harden. He won Sixth Man of the Year in 2021-22, has averaged at least 20 points and four assists in each of the last two seasons, is a career 38.3 percent three-point shooter and would make sense as a combo guard alongside either Brogdon or Tyrese Maxey.

“In fact, because Herro and Brogdon are both 6’5”, there are probably lineups that make sense with all three on the floor. That’s a wealth of shooting and playmaking around Joel Embiid‘s actions in the middle of the floor. With Tobias Harris as the fifth player in those situations, it might be impossible for opposing defenders to leave the perimeter for double-teams inside.”

Harden has requested a trade from the Sixers. He wants to get traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. However, the Sixers can trade Harden anywhere since the 10-time All-Star doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract.

The Sixers could start Brogdon, Maxey, Herro, Tobias Harris and Joel Embiid if Philadelphia’s front office figured out a way to acquire Brogdon from Portland and Herro from Miami.

Brogdon averaged 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists last season for the Boston Celtics. He won the Sixth Man of the Year Award. The Celtics traded Brogdon to the Blazers in the Jrue Holiday trade.

Meanwhile, Herro averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Heat in 2022-23. He was in NBA trade rumors all offseason since Miami was trying to acquire Damian Lillard.
