Los Angeles Lakers superstar small forward LeBron James won’t play in the team’s preseason opener versus the Golden State Warriors on October 7. The King told NBA reporters that he would like to play in at least three preseason games.

LeBron is 38. He’s been in the NBA since 2003. The future Hall of Famer doesn’t need to play in every preseason game.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers Updates

The Lakers have a total of six preseason games. If LeBron plays in at least three exhibition games, that should be enough for him to get ready for the season opener versus the Denver Nuggets on October 24.

LeBron averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 6.8 assists in 2022-23. The four-time MVP and four-time Finals MVP put up 24.5 points, 9.9 boards and 6.5 assists per game in the 2023 playoffs against the Memphis Grizzlies, Golden State Warriors and Nuggets. LeBron was still one of the best players in the NBA despite being 38 years old.

LeBron is looking like himself again after recovering from his foot injury this offseason. The NBA legend, who suffered a torn tendon in his right foot last season, is 100% healthy. LeBron missed 13 straight games from late February until late March. The Chosen One didn’t require offseason surgery.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers Updates

The Lakers are expected to start D’Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, LeBron and Anthony Davis this season, sources told NBA Analysis Network. Los Angeles will have revenge on its mind on opening versus Denver since the Nuggets swept the Lakers in the 2023 Western Conference Finals.
