The Golden State Warriors are trying to win another championship during the 2023-24 NBA season. Navigating the Western Conference won’t be easy, though. Golden State acquired Chris Paul during the offseason to bolster their guard depth while adding a key veteran.

The primary storyline surrounding Paul since joining the Warriors, however, is whether or not he will start. Draymond Green addressed the topic during NBA Media Day on Monday, per the Warriors on NBCS.

“We did have the best starting lineup in the league (last year). You can’t ignore that,” Green said. “Yet, you can’t ignore Chris Paul is Chris Paul… you have to take all of that into account. And then once you take all of that into account, I am a basketball player and not a coach so it’s not my job to figure it out, it’s not my role. But what I do know is whatever is best for this team is going to happen.”

Chris Paul has accomplished a lot in the NBA. Winning a championship has alluded him though. This may be his best opportunity to do so.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Chris Paul, Draymond Green & Golden State Warriors Updates

Yes, the West is stacked with teams like the Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns ready to compete. The Warriors have the advantage of playoff and NBA Finals experience though. They will be more than prepared for the big games with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green leading the way.

For now, the Warriors must figure out whether CP3 will start or not. A two-guard set featuring Paul and Curry could work. After all, Steph is an electric three-point shooter who wouldn’t have any issues as a shooting guard.

Paul is also one of the best leaders in the NBA. As a result, he could lead the second unit as a backup point guard for Curry.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Chris Paul, Draymond Green & Golden State Warriors Updates

One note that is important to make is the Warriors’ Opening Night lineup is subject to change. Just because Paul doesn’t start the first game of the year doesn’t mean Steve Kerr won’t change things around. Golden State is going to reach the playoffs, so they have all season to figure it out.

The Warriors will do whatever is best to help them in the postseason.
