One NBA writer is proposing that the Cleveland Cavaliers trade for Philadelphia 76ers star James Harden in a blockbuster deal. Fran Leiva of Fadeaway World proposed the following trade idea between the Miami Heat, Sixers, Chicago Bulls and Cavaliers:
Miami Heat receive: Donovan Mitchell, PJ Tucker, 2024 first-round pick via 76ers
Philadelphia 76ers receive: Zach LaVine, Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, Isaac Okoro, Dalen Terry
Chicago Bulls receive: Tobias Harris, Jaden Springer, Sam Merrill, Filip Petrusev, 2028 first-round pick via 76ers, 2030 first-round pick via 76ers
Cleveland Cavaliers receive: James Harden, Furkan Korkmaz, Danuel House Jr., 2024 first-round pick via Heat, 2026 first-round pick via 76ers, 2030 first-round pick via Heat
Harden skipped media day with the Sixers. The 10-time All-Star has requested a trade from Philadelphia and doesn’t plan to play for the franchise ever again.
Harden wants the Sixers to trade him to the Los Angeles Clippers. However, according to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Philadelphia and Los Angeles haven’t made any progress on a trade.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: James Harden, Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers Updates
In 58 games for the Sixers last season, Harden averaged 21.0 points, 6.1 rebounds and 10.7 assists. He led the NBA in assists per game for the second time in his career.
Harden doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract, so he can’t control where he goes. If the future Hall of Famer holds out for more than 30 days, the Sixers can stop Harden from entering free agency in the summer of 2024, according to NBA insider Zach Lowe of ESPN. Since Harden is in the final year of his contract, different NBA holdout rules would apply to him if he decided not to report to training camp and play.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: James Harden, Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers Updates
The Cavaliers lost to the New York Knicks in the first round of the 2023 playoffs. Cleveland hasn’t been linked to Harden in trade talks, but maybe that will change after media day.
