Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has said previously that he would leave the team if there was a “better situation.” One NBA inside predicts that because of that he will be leaving the Bucks.
Brian Windhorst of ESPN believes the two-time MVP of the league will be signing his next contract on another team. One of the reasons for that is “because the league is not designed to support one team contending at the highest level for this long,” Windhorst said.
The Bucks have finished top three in the East standings in the past five seasons with a championship in 2020-21. However, Windhorst has his doubts due to Giannis not “coming out and saying, I only want to be in Milwaukee, I want to retire a Milwaukee Buck.” He added that the rules have also made it “harder to keep your championship team every single time around.”

There have been concerns surrounding the roster of the Bucks because of their ageing core. Moreover, the team has failed to make it back to the Finals, let alone the Conference finals since winning the championship. The time could be ticking for Milwaukee if they want to retain their seven-time NBA All-Star.
Giannis is eligible to sign a contract extension worth $169 million over three years with the Bucks. But, if he waits until next summer he can guarantee more money. He will be eligible for a four year $234 million extension at that point.

The Bucks have to find ways to keep Giannis happy by adding young stars on the roster. That will make him interested in making a run for another title which he has made clear before. The 28 year old has also stated that money alone will not keep him around. He is after one thing only, and that is the Larry O’Brien trophy.
