One NBA writer is proposing that the Chicago Bulls trade for Portland Trail Blazers superstar point guard Damian Lillard in a giant blockbuster proposal. Ishaan Bhattacharya of Fadeaway World proposed the following trade idea between the Bulls, Blazers and New York Knicks:
Portland Trail Blazers Receive: RJ Barrett, Patrick Williams, Evan Fournier, 2024 First Round Pick (DAL), 2025 First Round Draft Pick (NYK), 2026 First Round Pick (CHI), 2028 Second Round Pick (CHI)
New York Knicks Receive: Zach LaVine
Chicago Bulls Receive: Damian Lillard
The Bulls are trying to trade LaVine in a multi-team deal to acquire Lillard from the Blazers, according to NBA insider Kyle Neubeck. Lillard has requested a trade from the Blazers and wants to get traded to the Miami Heat.

However, Portland continues to be reluctant to engage Miami in serious talks for Lillard, who only wants to play for the Heat. The Blazers have been aggressive in pursuing multi-team Lillard trade scenarios, according to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
“Portland is trying to put together a number of multi-team scenarios to see if they can get the assets back that they want in a trade for Damian Lillard,” Wojnarowski said. “They have been more aggressive here in the last few weeks only because the league started up again. Labor Day comes, teams are engaging again. I do think they’re engaging. The question is do they find a deal here in the next couple of weeks or do they have to bring Lillard back to camp?”
The Bulls could start Lillard, Alex Caruso, DeMar DeRozan, Torrey Craig and Nikola Vucevic if Chicago’s front office figured out a way to acquire Lillard from Portland. Lillard averaged 32.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 7.3 assists last season while shooting 46.3% from the field, 37.1% from beyond the arc and 91.4% from the free-throw line.

Chicago went 40-42 last season and missed the NBA playoffs. Lillard still wants the Blazers to trade him to the Heat despite the NBA’s initiative to warn Lillard and his agent that any further comments made “suggesting Lillard will not fully perform the services called for under his player contract in the event of a trade” will be subject to discipline, according to NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic.
