Big man Dwight Howard has had a successful 18-year career in the NBA, but during the 2021-22 season, it was starting to become clear that he may be over the hill.

After failing to get signed by an NBA team in the summer of 2022, he spent this past season playing pro ball in Taiwan, and he apparently had a good time experiencing a much different culture while with the Taoyuan Leopards in the T1 League.

But Howard is still feeling the insatiable itch to return to the NBA, and he has reportedly met with the Golden State Warriors. Several of their vets seem very happy with the idea of bringing the three-time Defensive Player of the Year to the Bay Area.

Howard has also made it clear that he wants to play for Team USA next summer when it will look to regain the gold medal in the Summer Olympics. He took to social media to warn Team USA that if it doesn’t bring him on board, he will play for Taiwan next summer in Paris and make it feel sorry by “dropping 85.”

Howard is a sure-fire candidate for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, and he has seemingly overcome the narrative of supposedly being a diva that dogged him earlier in his career.

He is now the proud owner of an NBA championship ring, and perhaps he feels he will earn another one if Golden State ends up signing him. He already won an Olympic gold medal with Team USA when it fielded the so-called “Redeem Team” that featured Kobe Bryant and LeBron James in the 2008 games.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Dwight Howard & Team USA Updates

USA Basketball is seemingly set to welcome James, Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard and possibly other prominent stars in order to avenge a disastrous fourth-place finish in this summer’s FIBA World Cup. It was a reminder that the rest of the world has caught up to the United States when it comes to basketball.

That means that perhaps Howard, at age 37, won’t be of much help to Team USA, especially given some of the size other national teams can boast.
