The Milwaukee Bucks are considered one of the favorites to win the NBA championship this coming season. But their future after this season is looking murky.
Giannis Antetokounmpo recently said that he will not sign a contract extension with the Bucks unless he is confident they will continue to content for rings in the future. With Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday and Brook Lopez getting up there in age, the team as presently constituted may not be able to do so.
Analyst Zach Lowe talked about this issue during a recent episode of his podcast “The Lowe Post” and suggested the Bucks take a big swing in order to convince Antetokounmpo they will continue to be elite beyond this season. The suggestion he had in mind was to trade for veteran sharpshooter Bojan Bogdanovic.
The specific package Lowe feels could net Bogdanovic is guard Grayson Allen and either Pat Connaughton or Bobby Portis, plus a 2029 first-round draft pick.
Bucks fans may have a reflexive reaction to giving up that draft pick, but such a deal could help solidify the team as a front-running favorite to win it all.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Bojan Bogdanovic, Detroit Pistons & Milwaukee Bucks Updates
Bogdanovic averaged a career-high 21.6 points a game while shooting 48.8 percent from the field and 41.1 percent from 3-point range last season as a member of the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons are at the ground level of a rebuilding process, and thus they may be able to be coaxed into letting go of him and his contract, which has two years remaining.
Last season, the Bucks struggled at times due to Middleton being out of the lineup for long stretches because of injury. If nothing else, Bogdanovic would help them navigate those stretches and come out of them with wins in bunches while also giving them more offensive firepower, especially come playoff time.

The one negative is the fact that the 6-foot-7 forward is 34 years of age, which means he wouldn’t do much to secure Milwaukee’s future. But it could be the type of move that would show Giannis Antetokounmpo that it is serious about making moves to remain elite for the rest of this decade.
