One NBA writer is proposing that the Toronto Raptors acquire Chris Paul from the Golden State Warriors in a blockbuster trade. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Warriors and Raptors:

Trade idea: Golden State Warriors trade Chris Paul, Jonathan Kuminga, Trayce Jackson-Davis and 2026 first-round pick to Toronto Raptors for Pascal Siakam

Paul needs 141 steals to pass Jason Kidd on the NBA’s all-time steals list. Kidd racked up 2,684 steals during his legendary career, while Paul enters next season with 2,544 steals. Kidd is second in NBA history in steals. It will be fascinating to see if Paul can pass the Hall of Famer next season.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Chris Paul, Golden State Warriors, Toronto Raptors Updates

The Warriors traded Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards for Paul, who is one of the greatest point guards in NBA history. Golden State is expected to start Paul, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green next season.

Paul averaged 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 8.9 assists last season for the Phoenix Suns while shooting 44.0% from the field, 37.5% from beyond the arc and 83.1% from the free-throw line. The Suns traded Paul to the Wizards in the Bradley Beal trade and then Washington dealt him to Golden State. Paul was on a plane to New York when Phoenix traded him. He was then playing basketball at his gym in North Carolina when the Warriors acquired him.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Chris Paul, Golden State Warriors, Toronto Raptors Updates

Paul will make $30.8 million next season. His 2024-25 salary is non-guaranteed.

The odds of the Warriors trading Paul to the Raptors are very low, especially since the external market for Siakam has been tempered a bit due to the fact that it’s been made clear Siakam would not extend with a team that trades for him. Siakam can sign for 30 percent of the salary cap either now via extension or next offseason as a free agent with the Raptors or any other team.
