Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has played with many great players in his NBA career. He was recently asked about who he thinks is the greatest point guard of all-time. Surprisingly, it wasn’t his teammate in his time in Los Angeles, Magic Johnson, or Stephen Curry for that matter.

In a recent interview with Justin Walters of PixNews11, Kareem mentioned that he thought the “Big O” is the greatest point guard to ever play in the NBA. Walters was shocked to hear his answer because he thought, like anyone of us, it would be Magic, his running mate in the 80’s.

Kareem went on to describe his reason why. He thought that a big reason people overlook him is because he never played in the era of the three-point line. The six-time champ said, however, that “Oscar had three point range.”

Undoubtedly, that is something fans will never know or appreciate for that matter. The NBA the way it is now, has flourished and expanded to being a three-point league. Nearly all players have the range and ability to spread the court.

Curry mentioned a few weeks back that he thought he was the best point-guard of all-time. For most of the debate, it seemed like it was between him or Magic. However, if you ask Kareem, he would have to say his former teammate, Robertson, that he only got to play with at the end of his career. More specifically, they were together in the 1970-1971 season.

Robertson in his career averaged 25.7 points, 9.5 assists, and 7.5 rebounds per game. He was more famously known as the one who averaged a 30 point triple-double for a season in 1961-62. A feat that no one thought would be broken until Russell Westbrook did it in the 2016-17 season. Nonetheless, he was able to hold that record for 55 years.
