Knicks Trade For Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo In Blockbuster Proposal

Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks, NBA Trade Rumors
NBA Analysis Network

Some NBA players just can’t help but generate headlines. When they talk, people listen. So, when they say something headline-worthy, the whole NBA world listens.

Take Giannis Antetokounmpo. When he waxes poetic on the nature of failure, it generates discussion. So, when he says that he could eventually leave the Milwaukee Bucks, it dominates the headlines. That’s what Antetokounmpo recently said. If the Bucks don’t position themselves for another title run soon, Antetokounmpo could seek a new NBA home.

We’ll see how this unfolds. With that said, if Antetokounmpo hits the trade market, he’ll fetch an incredible return. There’s almost no limit on what the Bucks could get for Antetokounmpo. Could they send him to the New York Knicks?

The Trade Proposal

Milwaukee Bucks Receive: G/F RJ Barrett, C Mitchell Robinson, G Immanuel Quickley, 2026 First-Round Pick (NYK), 2028 First-Round Pick (NYK), 2029 First-Round Pick (Swap – NYK), 2030 First-Round Pick (NYK)
New York Knicks Receive: F/C Giannis Antetokounmpo

We don’t mean to alarm Bucks fans. Frankly, it’s Antetokounmpo who alarmed them. We request that you don’t shoot the messenger. Besides, it’s entirely possible that this will all work out anyway.

How close are the Bucks to another title run? Sure, they lost in the first round in this past season. That was a major disappointment. With that said, the Bucks lost to the Miami Heat. They’d eventually advance to the NBA Finals. The Bucks made it a very competitive series – if it had gone just a little differently, they could have wound up hoisting the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

NBA TRADES, NEWS & RUMORS: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks & New York Knicks Updates

They could have. They didn’t. The Bucks lost in the first round. This organization needs to make changes. They’ll make every effort that they can to retain Antetokounmpo. If it doesn’t work, is this a good return for him?

Why The Milwaukee Bucks Do The Deal

Yes. Obviously, there’s no positive way to move Antetokounmpo. If he’s not the best player in the league, he’s one of three. Nikola Jokic has earned his current status as the league’s top dog, and Steph Curry has a case over Antetokounmpo. Otherwise, we’re talking about the league’s best.

That’s exactly why the Bucks are getting so much back here. Sure, they could get more draft capital elsewhere. What they won’t get is a better collection of both draft picks and young players. Arguably, this package is highlighted by Mitch Robinson. He’s one of the best young defensive big men in the NBA.

NBA TRADES, NEWS & RUMORS: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks & New York Knicks Updates

Is he a fit with this roster? No – not as long as Brook Lopez exists. That’s fine. If the Bucks are trading Antetokounmpo, we assume that they’d be trading all of their veterans. So, if the Bucks are rebuilding, this is a good first step for them. Should the Knicks give up so much for Antetokounmpo?

Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal

Of course they should. If the Bucks insist on more, the Knicks should give them more. This is Giannis Antetokounmpo. No expense is too great.

Is he a natural fit with this roster? Not necessarily. Antetokounmpo and Julius Randle play the same position. We’re not slightly concerned. If the pair can’t work, you trade Randle. Meanwhile, the Knicks could get freaky and run Antetokounmpo at the 5 or the 3 on a full-time basis. Either way, they can work out those details later. They’re acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo.

NBA TRADES, NEWS & RUMORS: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks & New York Knicks Updates

He’s an MVP candidate. The Knicks don’t currently have one. They do have Jalen Brunson, and he feels like a perfect co-star for Antetokounmpo. If this happens, expect the world to talk about it. When matters involve Antetokounmpo, they usually do.
