One NBA writer has named Royce O’Neale, Caleb Martin and Josh Green as the Cleveland Cavaliers’ top trade targets. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report believes the Cavaliers should try to trade for O’Neale, Martin or Green.

“The Cavs don’t have much to spend after paying a fortune for Donovan Mitchell last offseason, but they might be able to reel in a mid-tier target like O’Neale (expendable with Brooklyn’s wing depth), Martin (a potential casualty of the Miami Heat’s Damian Lillard pursuit) or Green (a likely trade candidate should the Dallas Mavericks do anything major),” Buckley wrote in his latest NBA trade column.

The Cavaliers went 51-31 last season. They lost to the New York Knicks in the first round of the 2023 playoffs in five games. Cleveland added Max Strus and Georges Niang in free agency and drafted Emoni Bates in the 2023 NBA Draft.

Donovan Mitchell thought he was going to get traded to the Knicks last offseason. However, the NBA star got dealt to the Cavaliers instead.

In November 2020, Mitchell signed a five-year, $163 million rookie-scale extension with the Utah Jazz. The 27-year-old will make $32.6 million next season and $34.8 million in 2024-25. Mitchell can become an unrestricted free agent in 2025 if he declines his 2025-26 player option worth $37.1 million.
