One NBA writer is proposing that the Golden State Warriors acquire Joel Embiid from the Philadelphia 76ers in a gigantic blockbuster trade. Eddie Bitar of Fadeaway World proposed the following trade idea between the Warriors and Sixers:
Golden State Warriors Receive: Joel Embiid
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, Gary Payton II, Moses Moody, 2025 First-Round Pick, 2027 First-Round Pick
Embiid hasn’t requested a trade from the Sixers despite James Harden asking out. The Sixers’ belief is that Embiid would like to spend his entire career with them, similar to Dirk Nowitzki with the Dallas Mavericks and Kobe Bryant with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to NBA insider Sam Amick of The Athletic.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State Warriors Updates
However, if Philadelphia struggles next season, we can’t rule out the possibility of Embiid asking out. After all, the Sixers have never advanced past the second round of the playoffs in the Embiid era.
In 394 regular-season games with the Sixers, Embiid is averaging 27.2 points and 11.2 rebounds. He has made six All-Star teams, five All-NBA teams and three All-Defensive teams and won one MVP Award.
Embiid averaged 33.1 points and 10.2 rebounds last season for the Sixers while shooting 54.8% from the field, 33.0% from 3 and 85.7% from the free-throw line. He won the NBA MVP Award over Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic. Philadelphia swept the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of the 2023 playoffs but lost to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semifinals in seven games.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State Warriors Updates
The Warriors shocked the NBA world by signing Kevin Durant in the summer of 2016. Only time will tell if they cause shockwaves again and acquire Embiid.
Golden State could start Chris Paul, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Embiid if the Warriors’ front office figured out a way to acquire Embiid from the Sixers.
