One NBA writer is proposing that the Golden State Warriors acquire Myles Turner from the Indiana Pacers in a blockbuster trade. Eddie Bitar of Fadeaway World proposed the following trade idea between the Warriors and Pacers:
Golden State Warriors Receive: Myles Turner
Indiana Pacers Receive: Jonathan Kuminga, Gary Payton II, Kevon Looney, 2028 First-Round Pick
“For the Warriors, acquiring Turner, a skilled shot-blocker and rim protector, bolsters their interior defense, a weakness in recent years,” Bitar wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “Turner’s ability to stretch the floor with his three-point shooting also fits well with the Warriors’ fast-paced, spacing-oriented style of play. When he isn’t blocking shots, he is shooting a career 35.3% from deep.”
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Myles Turner, Indiana Pacers, Golden State Warriors Updates
Turner is an outstanding rebounder and defender. He’s led the NBA in blocks per game twice and can stretch the floor with his improved shooting. Turner put up 18.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game in 2022-23 for the Pacers while shooting 54.8% from the field, 37.3% from beyond the arc and 78.3% from the free-throw line.
Turner will make $20.9 million next season. He signed a two-year, $58 million extension with the Pacers in January 2023. The 27-year-old has career NBA averages of 13.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 2.3 blocks. He will have made over $140 million in his career once his current contract ends.
The Warriors could start Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green and Turner if Golden State’s front office figured out a way to acquire Turner from Indiana. The Dubs lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2023 Western Conference Finals in six games, marking the first time Steve Kerr lost a series in the playoffs before the NBA Finals.
