One NBA writer is proposing that the Philadelphia 76ers acquire Andrew Wiggins from the Golden State Warriors in a blockbuster trade. Lee Tran of Fadeaway World proposed the following trade idea between the Sixers and Warriors:

Golden State Warriors Receive: James Harden

Philadelphia 76ers Receive: Andrew Wiggins, Gary Payton II, Moses Moody

“The main return in this deal would obviously be former All-Star Andrew Wiggins, who has developed into a solid two-way player with the Warriors,” Tran wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “This past season, Wiggins averaged 17.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 39.6% from 3PT range. He was notably teammates with Joel Embiid during their time in college at Kansas, so there is also a degree of familiarity there. In theory, Wiggins gives the team the elite wing player that they’ve been missing, and he could be a perfect No. 3 option behind Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.”

Wiggins helped the Warriors win the 2022 NBA title over the Boston Celtics in six games. He signed a four-year, $109 million contract extension in October 2022. The Kansas product will make $24.3 million next season.

The 2014-15 NBA Rookie of the Year with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Wiggins appeared in 37 games for the Warriors last season. He averaged 17.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists while shooting 47.3% from the floor, 39.6% from 3 and 61.1% from the free-throw line.

The 28-year-old Wiggins has career NBA averages of 19.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists with the Timberwolves and Warriors.

If the Sixers and Warriors completed this trade, Philadelphia’s new core would consist of Wiggins, Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris and Tyrese Maxey. That foursome could potentially do damage together under new head coach Nick Nurse.
