Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob talked about Klay Thompson’s future with the franchise with NBA writer Tim Kawakami of The Athletic. Lacob said he expects Thompson, whose current contract expires next July, to be with the team past next season.

“I do,” Lacob said. “We’ve had some very brief discussions at this point with his agent. But they’re very, very early. … I fully expect that we’ll have some substantial discussions soon sometime and we’ll see if we can’t put something together that allows Klay to be here for a long time, which we clearly would like him to be.”

The Warriors signed Thompson to a five-year, $189.9 million contract in the summer of 2019. While anything can happen in the NBA, all signs point toward Thompson, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green spending their entire careers in Golden State.
