One NBA writer is proposing that the Los Angeles Clippers acquire Jordan Poole from the Washington Wizards in a blockbuster trade. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Clippers and Wizards:
The Trade: Wizards trade Jordan Poole to Clippers for Marcus Morris Sr., Robert Covington, Brandon Boston Jr., a 2029 second-round pick and a 2030 second-round pick
“Because Washington has finally embraced an overdue rebuild, Poole’s pricey pact isn’t particularly damaging to the budget,” Buckley wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “The Wizards don’t need to unload it just to get it off the books. However, if they could find someone who sees Poole as more than a negative asset, Washington should be interested in clearing the ledger.
“The Clippers, whose interest in James Harden shows a desire for more creation, aren’t giving up much here, but it could still be enough for the Wizards.”

Poole signed a four-year, $128 million extension with the Golden State Warriors in October 2022. The extension kicks in next season. The shooting guard averaged a career-high 20.4 points for the Warriors last season while shooting 43.0% from the field, 33.6% from beyond the arc and 87.0% from the free-throw line.
However, Poole wasn’t able to carry over his regular-season success to the 2023 NBA postseason. In 13 playoff games versus the Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Lakers, Poole averaged 10.3 points while shooting an inefficient 34.1% overall and 25.4% from 3-point range. The Warriors lost to the Lakers in the Western Conference Semifinals in six games.
Draymond Green punched Poole in the face before the 2022-23 NBA season started. Klay Thompson also had issues with Poole, who was “excited” the Warriors traded him to the Wizards, according to NBA insider Kendra Andrews of ESPN.

It will be fascinating to see if Poole lasts the entire 2023-24 season with the Wizards, who are in rebuild mode after trading Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis this summer.
