With the 2023-24 NBA season continuing to draw closer, teams around the league are still looking to make moves to bolster their rosters. At this point in time, there are still chances of some major blockbuster trades going down before the regular season. Could the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers consider coming together on one of the biggest trades in recent history?
That’s right, it’s wild to think about, but the long-time rivals could be potential trade partners.
Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report threw out a wild blockbuster trade idea recently. He suggested that the Lakers and Celtics come together on a trade featuring both Anthony Davis and Jaylen Brown. It is suggested that this trade would happen next summer if both teams fail to reach their desired goals.

The Hypothetical Suggested Lakers, Celtics Trade
Lakers Receive: Jaylen Brown, Robert Williams
Celtics Receive: Anthony Davis
Wow. Just looking at this deal it’s hard to comprehend just how much this would move around the NBA landscape. Both teams would be moving on from franchise players and starting fresh with a new superstar.
For the Celtics, they would be adding one of the best front-court players in the league to play alongside Jayson Tatum. Over the last couple of years, there has been a lot of criticism about the Tatum-Brown pairing and many believe they can’t win a championship with those two leading the way together. Making the move for Davis would give Boston a much different dynamic on both ends of the court.

As for the Lakers, this move would be a tough one to pull the trigger on. However, LeBron James isn’t getting any younger and Brown could be the heir apparent to taking over the franchise. Adding Williams would help Los Angeles replace what they’re losing defensively by trading Davis.
While this trade is certainly interesting to think about, the chances of it happening are slim to none. But, that doesn’t mean we can’t be in awe of this kind of trade.
Should the season not go well for both the Lakers and Celtics, or one or the other, Brown and Davis could very well come available. If that happens, the fit would be intriguing with this kind of a blockbuster trade package.
