Tyler Herro, Orlando Magic, Miami Heat trade rumors

One NBA writer is proposing that the Orlando Magic acquire Tyler Herro from the Miami Heat in a bold trade. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Magic and Heat:

The Trade: Jonathan Isaac, Jalen Suggs, a 2025 first-round pick (lottery protected) and a 2025 first-round pick (top-five protected, via DEN) to the Miami Heat for Tyler Herro

“Herro would provide a big lift on both fronts while also taking some attention away from Wagner and Banchero with his live-dribble passing and movement shooting,” Buckley wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “Herro’s combination of age (23), ability and big-stage experience might normally make him off-limits, but Miami might need to move him to bring back the assets needed to seal a Damian Lillard deal.”

Herro has removed “Miami Heat guard” from his Twitter bio because he’s expecting to be involved in the Damian Lillard trade. Lillard has requested a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers and only wants to get traded to the Heat. However, Portland and Miami haven’t made any progress on a deal.

A Kentucky product, Herro averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists last season for the Heat while shooting 43.9% from the field, 37.8% from beyond the arc and 93.4% from the free-throw line. He was third on the team in points per game, trailing only Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.

The 23-year-old Herro signed a four-year, $120 million rookie contract extension with the Heat in October 2022. The Milwaukee native has career NBA averages of 17.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 242 games with Miami. He broke his hand in the first round of the 2023 NBA playoffs versus the Milwaukee Bucks and never came back.
