One NBA writer is proposing that the Toronto Raptors acquire Lonzo Ball, Patrick Williams and Dalen Terry from the Chicago Bulls in a bold trade. Lee Tran of Fadeaway World proposed the following trade idea between the Bulls and Raptors:

Chicago Bulls Receive: Pascal Siakam

Toronto Raptors Receive: Lonzo Ball, Patrick Williams, Dalen Terry, 2024 First-Round Pick (POR via CHI)

“This trade package for the Raptors is headlined by Patrick Williams, who is a solid defensive prospect as of right now,” Tran wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “He averaged 10.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.2 assists last season for the Bulls while shooting 41.5% from 3PT range. As of right now, he is a quality 3 and D wing player, but it is clear that Williams could blossom if given more touches and opportunity. He would get plenty of that on the Raptors.

“Lonzo Ball is mostly in this trade for salary-matching purposes. It was recently revealed that Ball will miss the entire 2023-24 season, and it is unlikely that he will provide contributions to the Raptors this upcoming season. Still, he could up his value if he comes back from injuries well, and at worst, Ball’s contract can likely be traded for a team to get salary relief in a future trade. The two future assets that the Toronto Raptors will end up with in this scenario are a first-round pick in 2024, and guard Dalen Terry.”

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Lonzo Ball, Patrick Williams, Dalen Terry, Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors Updates

Several NBA teams have shown interest in pursuing Siakam via trade over the past three months, but the external market has been tempered a bit due to the fact that it’s been made clear Siakam would not extend with a team that trades for him. Siakam can sign for 30 percent of the salary cap either now via extension or next offseason as a free agent with the Raptors or any other franchise.

The Raptors are eligible to sign Siakam to a maximum contract extension of four years and at least $192 million. Thus far, there have been no substantive conversations surrounding an extension. And for Siakam’s part, the NBA star has never requested to be traded.

Ball told Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young on the “From The Point” podcast that he’ll miss the entire 2023-24 NBA season. Ball underwent a cartilage transplant in his left knee in March. The Bulls’ floor general missed the entire 2022-23 season. The older brother of Charlotte Hornets All-Star LaMelo Ball, Lonzo has career NBA averages of 11.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 6.2 assists with the Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans and Bulls.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Lonzo Ball, Patrick Williams, Dalen Terry, Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors Updates

Williams has career NBA averages of 9.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists. He will become a restricted free agent next summer. Meanwhile, Terry averaged 2.2 points during his rookie season.

Both Williams and Terry are young, promising forwards, but the odds of the Raptors trading Siakam to the Bulls for Ball, Williams and Terry are very, very low.
