One NBA writer is proposing that the Philadelphia 76ers acquire Alperen Sengun, Kevin Porter Jr. and Amen Thompson from the Houston Rockets in a blockbuster trade. Lee Tran of Fadeaway World proposed the following trade idea between the Sixers and Rockets:

Houston Rockets Receive: Joel Embiid

Philadelphia 76ers Receive: Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson, Tari Eason, Kevin Porter Jr., Jeff Green, 2027 First-Round Pick (HOU), 2029 First-Round Pick (HOU)

Sengun averaged 14.8 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists for the Rockets last season while shooting 55.3% from the field and 33.3% from beyond the arc. He is regarded as one of the most skilled big men in the NBA, and if Embiid winds up requesting a trade from the Sixers, Philadelphia would need a new franchise cornerstone and Sengun could fit that bill.

“Alperen Sengun would clearly be one of the main pieces in this trade, and adding him would get the 76ers a ready-made player who can immediately start at the C,” Tran wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “Last season, Sengun averaged 14.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game. He is one of the most versatile offensive players on the Rockets right now, and Sengun is clearly a big man who can do a little bit of everything. Alperen Sengun’s most valuable quality will definitely be passing, and if the 76ers make him a focal point of their offense, he could easily develop into a star.”

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Alperen Sengun, Kevin Porter Jr., Amen Thompson, Houston Rockets & Philadelphia 76ers Updates

Porter Jr. appeared in 59 games for the Rockets last season. He averaged 19.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.7 assists while shooting 44.2% from the floor, 36.6% from 3 and 78.4% from the free-throw line. The lefty recorded nine double-doubles and one triple-double. He could potentially start alongside Tyrese Maxey in the Sixers’ backcourt.

The Rockets drafted Thompson with the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. To acquire a superstar like Embiid, Houston would have to part ways with the talented youngster.

Embiid developed a close relationship with new Rockets head coach Ime Udoka when Udoka was an assistant coach on the Sixers, which is why many people around the NBA believe Houston is a team to watch in the Embiid trade sweepstakes if the star center requests a trade from Philadelphia.
