One NBA writer is proposing that the Los Angeles Clippers acquire Andrew Wiggins from the Golden State Warriors in a blockbuster trade. Lee Tran of Fadeaway World proposed the following trade idea between the Clippers and Warriors:

Golden State Warriors Receive: Kawhi Leonard

Los Angeles Clippers Receive: Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, 2027 First-Round Pick

“This package would obviously feature fewer assets than the other ones in this article because Kawhi Leonard is on an expiring contract,” Tran wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “Still, the Los Angeles Clippers would get solid value for their star, with great young prospects like Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody, as well as a former All-Star in Andrew Wiggins.”

Wiggins helped the Warriors win the 2022 NBA title over the Boston Celtics in six games. He signed a four-year, $109 million contract extension in October 2022. The Kansas product will make $24.3 million next season.

The 2014-15 NBA Rookie of the Year with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Wiggins appeared in 37 games for the Warriors last season. He averaged 17.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists while shooting 47.3% from the floor, 39.6% from 3 and 61.1% from the free-throw line.

The 28-year-old Wiggins has career NBA averages of 19.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists with the Timberwolves and Warriors. He could be a lethal second option on offense for the Clippers behind Paul George and thrive playing next to Russell Westbrook in the open court.

Leonard and the Clippers are in no rush to get an extension done, according to NBA insider Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN. The odds of LAC trading Leonard are very, very low. However, crazier things have happened in the NBA, so never say never.
