Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Anthony Edwards recently explained why Phoenix Suns small forward Kevin Durant is his favorite player in the NBA.
Durant is one of the greatest players in NBA history. He has career averages of 27.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns. The Texas product has won two championships, two Finals MVPs, one regular-season MVP and four scoring titles.

A future Hall of Famer, Durant has made 13 All-Star teams and 10 All-NBA teams. He’s fourth in NBA history in points per game and 13th in points.
Edwards has quickly established himself as one of the top young players in the NBA. He has career averages of 21.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists with the Timberwolves. The 22-year-old made his first All-Star team in 2023 and he will certainly play in several more All-Star games in the future.
Durant has a 3-0 record against Edwards. It will be interesting to see if Edwards and the Timberwolves can beat Durant and the Suns next season. Minnesota didn’t make any massive additions this offseason, while Phoenix traded Chris Paul and Landry Shamet to the Washington Wizards for Bradley Beal.

The Suns lost to the Denver Nuggets in the 2023 Western Conference Semifinals in six games. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves lost to the Nuggets in the first round of the 2023 playoffs. Denver won the NBA title over the Miami Heat in five games.
Minnesota and Edwards agreed to a five-year maximum contract extension that could be worth up to $260 million this summer. Edwards would have become a restricted free agent next summer if the Timberwolves didn’t sign him to an extension. The franchise was never going to let that happen.
