One NBA writer is proposing that the Brooklyn Nets acquire Tyler Herro from the Miami Heat in a blockbuster trade. Ari Schwartz of HoopsHabit proposed that the Nets trade Spencer Dinwiddie, Royce O’Neale and a 2025 lottery-protected first-round pick to the Heat for Herro.
“Herro has clearly been made available in trade talks and may want out now that he’s been thrown around in offers,” Schwartz wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “From Brooklyn’s point of view, they’re in a strange situation after trading Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving for largely pick-heavy packages, yet they can’t enter a full rebuild because the Rockets own most of their future draft capital. Herro would help the Nets find a healthy balance, keeping them young while hopefully maintaining competitiveness at the moment.”
Herro has removed “Miami Heat guard” from his Twitter bio. The Kentucky product averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists last season. He was third on the team in points per game, trailing only Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.

The 23-year-old Herro signed a four-year, $120 million rookie contract extension with the Heat in October 2022. The Milwaukee native has career NBA averages of 17.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 242 games with Miami. He broke his hand in the first round of the 2023 NBA playoffs versus the Milwaukee Bucks and never came back.
Herro has been telling people close to him that he expects to get traded to the Brooklyn Nets, according to NBA insider Ethan J. Skolnick of 5 Reasons Sports. The Heat, Nets and Portland Blazers could complete a three-team trade centered around Damian Lillard, who wants to get traded to Miami.

The deal could potentially also involve second-rounders and draft pick swaps, according to NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic.
