One NBA writer is proposing that the Los Angeles Clippers acquire James Harden from the Philadelphia 76ers and Collin Sexton from the Utah Jazz. Lee Tran of Fadeaway World proposed the following three-team trade between the Clippers, Jazz and Sixers:
Los Angeles Clippers Receive: James Harden, Collin Sexton
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: Lauri Markkanen, Robert Covington
Utah Jazz Receive: Norman Powell, Marcus Morris Sr., Amir Coffey, Kobe Brown, Brandon Boston Jr., 2030 First-Round Pick (LAC), 2030 First-Round Pick (PHI), 2029 First-Round Pick Swap (PHI favoring UTA)
Harden has requested a trade from the Sixers and only wants to get traded to the Clippers so he can play with Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Russell Westbrook. The three-time NBA scoring champion was born and raised in Los Angeles.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: James Harden, Collin Sexton, Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Clippers & Philadelphia 76ers Updates
“In this trade scenario, the Clippers would have to send out the expiring contracts of Marcus Morris Sr. and Robert Covington, alongside some young players in Brandon Boston Jr. and Kobe Brown,” Tran wrote. “Norman Powell would be included in the deal as well, with the draft compensation being their highly-valuable 2030 first-round pick. Though the team would definitely lose some of its depth, that is a small price to pay to land both James Harden and Collin Sexton. This would increase the team’s overall talent level, and allow them to have a higher chance of winning the championship.”
Harden averaged 21.0 points, 6.1 rebounds and 10.7 assists last season while shooting 44.1% from the field, 38.5% from beyond the arc and 86.7% from the free-throw line and led the NBA in assists per game. The former NBA MVP intends to “never wear” a Sixers uniform again, sources told NBA Analysis Network.
Meanwhile, Sexton averaged 14.3 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists last season for the Jazz while shooting 50.6% from the floor, 39.3% from 3 and 81.9% from the free-throw line in 48 games. The point guard signed a four-year, $70.9 million deal in September 2022. He’ll make $17.3 million next season.
