One NBA writer is proposing that the Philadelphia 76ers and New Orleans Pelicans make a trade centered around James Harden and Brandon Ingram.

In the wake of Harden requesting a trade from the Sixers, Lee Tran of Fadeaway proposed that the Pelicans trade Ingram to the Sixers for Harden and two future NBA draft picks.

“This deal could potentially work out for both teams, and there are clear benefits to both parties,” Tran wrote. “For the 76ers, it’s about getting a young star that fits Joel Embiid’s timeline, while also providing the sort of skills the team needs to win a championship. Though they would have to give up some valuable draft picks to do so, it is worth the risk when an MVP candidate like Joel Embiid is on the roster.

“For the Pelicans, this trade is one to get a respected veteran in Harden, who is also a good fit with superstar Zion Williamson. Positionally, Harden also makes sense for a team that is devoid of a true point guard. Of course, his being on a one-year deal hurts, but the draft compensation should make it a solid proposition for the team regardless.”

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Brandon Ingram, New Orleans Pelicans, James Harden & Philadelphia 76ers Updates

Harden averaged 21.0 points, 6.1 rebounds and 10.7 assists last season while shooting 44.1% from the floor, 38.5% from beyond the arc and 86.7% from the free-throw line. The Sixers are believed to be asking for a lot in trade talks for Harden because they feel comfortable with the idea of him returning to the team next season. Since Harden doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract, Philadelphia doesn’t have to honor his trade request.

Ingram averaged 24.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.8 assists for the Pelicans in 2022-23 while shooting 48.4% from the field, 39.0% from 3 and 88.2% from the free-throw. However, the one-time All-Star only appeared in 45 games, and according to NBA reporter Christian Clark of NOLA.com, Ingram’s inability to play through minor discomfort has frustrated some of his teammates.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Brandon Ingram, New Orleans Pelicans, James Harden & Philadelphia 76ers Updates

This trade proposal from Tran would give the Pelicans a new Big 3 of Harden, Zion Williamson and CJ McCollum. Meanwhile, the Sixers would be led by Ingram, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. It will certainly be interesting to see if New Orleans and Philadelphia talk with each other moving forward.
