The NBA has suspended San Antonio Spurs guard Devonte’ Graham for two games without pay for pleading guilty to a charge of impaired driving.
Graham’s suspension will commence with the next NBA regular season game that he is eligible and able to play.
Graham played for the New Orleans Pelicans and Spurs last season. He averaged 7.4 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 73 games while shooting 37.4% from the field, 35.2% from beyond the arc and 74.8% from the free-throw line.
The 28-year-old Graham has career NBA averages of 11.6 points, 2.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 313 games with the Charlotte Hornets, Pelicans and Spurs. He signed a four-year, $47.3 million contract with the Hornets in August 2021. Graham will make $12.1 million next season and $12.7 million in 2024-25.
NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Devonte’ Graham & San Antonio Spurs Updates
The Spurs won only 22 games last season. However, they got the first pick in the 2023 NBA Draft and selected Victor Wembanyama. San Antonio has won five championships under head coach Gregg Popovich, who has coached David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Kawhi Leonard. Popovich will now get to coach Wembanyama, who played in two Summer League games in Las Vegas.
Wembanyama put up nine points, eight rebounds, three assists and five blocks while shooting 2-for-13 from the field versus the Hornets but bounced back in a big way against the Portland Trail Blazers, finishing with 27 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks on 9-of-14 shooting overall.
