Knicks Trade For Heat’s Tyler Herro In Bold Proposal

Tyler Herro, Miami Heat, New York Knicks, NBA Trade Rumors

Around the NBA, everyone is waiting on that big trade. No, not James Harden. Not Pascal Siakam, either. As much as those would be league-altering moves, there’s an even bigger fish on the market.

Of course, we’re talking about Damian Lillard. He’s been on the Portland Trail Blazers for his entire career. Now, he’s looking to join the Miami Heat.

If the Heat want him, they’ll have to trade Tyler Herro. It seems as if theyre willing to pay that price. That got us thinking: even if Miami misses out on Lillard, could they trade Herro anyway? Here’s a deal that sends him to the New York Knicks.

The Trade Proposal

Miami Heat Receive: G/F Evan Fournier, G Immanuel Quickley, 2024 First-Round Pick (NYK)
New York Knicks Receive: G Tyler Herro

Obviously, the Lillard situation has far-reaching ramifications. We just dedicated all that space to him, and he’s not even involved in this deal. That’s the NBA. It’s an ever-shifting landscape. What’s happening on one team will have an impact on the rest of the league.

Lillard is one of the best offensive players in the NBA. Nobody could blame the Miami Heat for being willing to move Herro for him. Nobody besides Herro, that is.

Could he have negative feelings about being involved in proposals? Absolutely. It’s possible that this situation has dissolved any goodwill between Herro and the organization. Could they send him to New York as a result?

Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal

For this return? Absolutely. Miami could even prefer Quickley to Herro. For what it’s worth, Quickley is a far superior defender. Typically, that’s a quality this organization seeks in a player.

Either way, that’s not entirely the point here. The Heat may have a disgruntled player on their hands. Here, they’re getting a good return for him.

Are they taking on Fournier’s contract? Absolutely. That’s OK. It’s an expiring deal, and well worth the price if they’re adding Quickley and a first-round pick. Should the Knicks give that up for Herro?

Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal

Well, it depends. The Knicks would need to know where they stand on Herro. For what it’s worth, he’s a more dynamic offensive player than Quickley. Herro remains young. Could the Knicks see a future star?

If so, they should pounce. This team already had one of the best offenses in the NBA last season. With this deal, they’d be upgrading it.

Meanwhile, the Knicks will have to make a decision on Quickley’s next contract soon. They may want to cut ties with him before he’s due for it. If so, this deal makes perfect sense for them. Even if it isn’t the blockbuster everyone’s been waiting on.
