NBA free agency is nearly over. By now, most of the best players have found new homes. As is typical, the first couple of days were the busiest. Why wouldn’t they be? Teams are quick to claim the most coveted players on the market.
Yet, there are still some quality players out there. Among them is Kelly Oubre Jr. It is somewhat surprising that he hasn’t landed on an NBA team yet.
Is he an elite player? No. Still, Oubre Jr. is a hyper-athletic wing that can provide some floor spacing. Surely, someone is interested in rostering him. Here are three teams that we think could take a look at him.
Los Angeles Lakers
Of course we included the Los Angeles Lakers. How could we not include the Lakers? They’re linked to every available, decent player. With that said, we actually like the fit between this player and the team – for several reasons.
For starters, the Lakers are running out of cap space. At this point, it doesn’t seem like Oubre will command a lot of money. He may be forced to take a small, one-year deal and try to reestablish his value.

Meanwhile, the Lakers could use another wing alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Oubre Jr. is a portable player who should be able to fit into a lot of team concepts. With that said, there are other teams with a more dire need for a wing.
Cleveland Cavaliers
To an extent, the Cleveland Cavaliers solved their wing problem this summer. They signed Max Struss. Sure. Struss is a good player. He’s an elite floor spacer who plays solid, rugged defense. He’s not necessarily the sole solution to a contending team’s lack of wing depth, either.
After all, he’s a bit undersized. Struss is also fairly unathletic. In that sense, Oubre Jr. surpasses him on both counts.

Does that mean he’d be Cleveland’s starter? Not necessarily. Still, we can safely assume that Oubre Jr. would crack this team’s rotation. On the other hand, what about the team that’s losing Struss?
Miami Heat
After all, Miami has done little to replace Struss this summer. Partly, that’s because the Heat are lying in wait. This team has its eye on Damian Lillard. Time will tell whether they actually land him or not.
In the meantime, the Heat are coming off of an NBA Finals appearance. We should expect them to be contenders next season. Why not bolster their wing depth?
NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Kelly Oubre Jr & Miami Heat Updates
Oubre Jr. is not the groundbreaking addition that Lillard would be. At the same time, he’s solid. The Heat have some depth to makeup, and Oubre would be a good addition. After all, the best free agents have already signed elsewhere.
