Bucks Trade For Heat’s Tyler Herro In Proposal

Tyler Herro, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, NBA Trade Rumors

The Miami Heat had a remarkable run in 2022-23. As the eighth seed, this team wasn’t supposed to even win a playoff series. They did. In fact, they advanced all the way to the NBA Finals.

That alone was impressive enough. The fact that they did it without Tyler Herro is even more impressive. The Heat’s young, star guard was sidelined with an injury the entire time.

All of which has raised a question: do the Heat need Herro? Should they be shopping him this summer? Could they send him to the Milwaukee Bucks?

The Trade Proposal

Miami Heat Receive: F/C Bobby Portis, G/F Pat Connaughton, G/F Grayson Allen, 2029 First-Round Pick (MIL)
Milwaukee Bucks Receive: G Tyler Herro

In fact, the first series that the Heat were not supposed to win came against the Milwaukee Bucks. How could the Heat beat the Bucks? If Giannis Antetokoumnpo isn’t the best player in the NBA, he’s number two. Throw in a strong supporting cast, and the Bucks should have steamrolled the Heat.

They didn’t. There were some excuses. Khris Middleton didn’t look like himself. He was partially injured. Still, this was a disappointing outcome for the Bucks.

Still, this team isn’t far removed from an NBA title. They are still contenders. With that in mind, the Bucks could make a major change this summer. Could that change include adding Herro?

Why The Milwaukee Bucks Do The Deal

Let’s frame Milwaukee’s struggles in this year’s playoffs differently. They struggled to create in the halfcourt. Could that be a trend moving forward? Antetokoumnpo is a wrecking ball, but he’s a poor shooter. Jrue Holiday’s shot is inconsistent, and Middleton struggles to get to the rim.

All of these guys are excellent NBA players. Still, the Bucks could use a boost in half-court creation. Herro could give them one.

In all likelihood, he’d be their sixth man. Herro could pilot this team’s second unit, and also co-exist with the starters. Should the Heat give up such a valuable player?

Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal

Well, it seems likely that the Heat are willing to move Herro. By all accounts, they’d include him in a deal for Damian Lillard. Sure. This deal doesn’t include Damian Lillard. In fact, the Heat aren’t landing any stars here. Should they make the deal?

We think so. The Heat may have made the Finals last year, but they’re not currently poised to replicate that success. Max Strus and Gabe Vincent both left the team in free agency.

This deal replaces them both with Allen and Conaughton. Meanwhile, the Heat could have badly used Portis in last year’s playoffs. A big body that spaces the floor and plays defense is a perfect complement to this roster. Who knows what they could accomplish?
